The members of the "Comparative Psychology" interest group, in close collaboration with the neighboring disciplines of anthropology and biology, explore the human mind through researching the similarities and differences (1) in the development of the human mind in different socio-cultural contexts, and (2) of the human mind in contrast to that of other species. This comparative approach makes it possible to examine intra- and interpersonal influences on developmental changes and thus to gain a better understanding of the complex interplay of different system levels (genes, physiology, behavior, environment, culture). The goal of our interest group is to bundle the expertise of comparative psychologists in Germany, to provide a platform for exchanging ideas and for connecting researchers, and to collaborate to again make comparative psychology an integral part of university research and teaching in German-speaking countries.
