Die DGPs verfolgt die aktuelle Debatte um unser Mitglied Klaus Fiedler intensiv. Ihm wird vorgeworfen, in seiner Funktion als ehemaliger Herausgeber der Zeitschrift "Perspectives on Psychological Science" unter anderem gegen Grundsätze unparteilicher Herausgeberschaft verstoßen zu haben. Wir begrüßen sehr, wenn eine gründliche und ergebnisoffene Prüfung dieser Vorwürfe durch die Zeitschrift sowie die Association for Psychological Science erfolgt. Die Sicherung unverzichtbarer Qualitätsstandards im Handeln von Herausgeber*innen liegt im Grundinteresse unseres Faches. Zugleich entspricht es nicht unserem Verständnis von Verfahrensgerechtigkeit, eine Person zu verurteilen, ohne sie in angemessener Form anzuhören.
Statement of the DGPs Board on the accusations against member Klaus Fiedler
The DGPs is intensively following the current debate about our member Klaus Fiedler. He is accused of having violated the principles of impartial editorship in his function as former editor of the journal "Perspectives on Psychological Science". We very much welcome a thorough and open-ended investigation of these allegations by the journal as well as the Association for Psychological Science. Ensuring indispensable quality standards in the actions of editors is in the fundamental interest of our discipline. At the same time, it is not our understanding of procedural justice to condemn a person without giving him or her an adequate hearing.
